
Mr. Sonam Tenzin is the Executive Director of EduPlus. His role focuses on fostering strategic collaboration with stakeholders and integrating policy formulation, embedding governance frameworks into investment strategies to drive sustainable growth and impactful outcome for the organizations.
Sonam brings extensive leadership experience from both the public and private sectors, with over 23 years of service in the government and more than three years in private sector. In public service, he held senior executive positions, including Director of the Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and as Director of the Department of Information and Media under the Ministry of Information and Communications. His career within the Ministry of Finance progressed from Finance Officer and Senior Budget Officer to Chief Planning Officer in the policy and Planning Division, and later Chief of the Department of Macroeconomic Affairs. His tenure in public service equipped him with substantial expertise in public policy formulation, macroeconomic strategy and planning, public finance and budget management, and regulatory oversight.
In the private sector, Sonam has demonstrated entrepreneurial acumen and financial leadership. He served as an Executive Director in two leading companies in Bhutan, where he played a pivotal role in promoting entrepreneurship, financial stewardship, and organizational growth.
Sonam holds a MBA in Finance from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia, a Postgraduate in Financial Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Honours) from Sherubtse College, affiliated with Delhi University. His diverse educational background and broad professional experience equipped him to drive innovation, fostering governance excellence and meaningful impact at EduPlus.
